Specialty Asphalt Reclaiming of
Parking Lots and Roadways
![]()
Asphalt reclamation is a process that is used by Derk Harmsen Construction Co. Inc. in the industrial sector, commercial projects, and residential road construction. This process uses a Recycling/Stabilizing machine (Bomag MPH-100 is pictured above), to pulverize the existing asphalt and base material to depths from 6" up to 12", giving you a workable base to stabilize and reuse.
Once the material is mixed, Portland cement is added from 45 lbs. to 60 lbs. per square yard, depending on the application that it is being used for, such as heavy axle loads, fork lift traffic, or heavy storage. The area is mixed again with the Portland cement and water to achieve optimum moisture content. The area is then ready for grading and compaction, after the road has cured it is ready to be topped with asphalt.
This process is most desirable because no material has to leave the job site. The existing asphalt and base is reused saving on the purchase of new base materials. This process addresses many of the environmental concerns of disposal of material from industrial facilities that may be contaminated. The materials are reused and stay in place. The savings can be substantial over other methods of repair if large areas are involved. If you would like more information on this process please feel free to contact Derk Harmsen Construction Co.
